Edmund Blackadder, a descendant of the Black Adder in Regency England, serves as a frustrated butler to the spoiled and oafish George, Prince of Wales.

The regent is low on cash, so Edmund sets out to find him a bride with a big dowry. A certain Amy Hardwood seems to fit the bill, but she may be connected to squirrel-hating highwayman Dick Turpin.

Edmund must count on his Scottish cousin, McAdder, to save him from certain death at the hands of the fearsome Duke of Wellington.
