A shrine maiden who grew up on a remote mountain with a talking bear as her guardian dreams of going to school in the big city, but lacking knowledge of urban culture, she must prove herself ready to set off on her own.

Fourteen-year-old Machi Amayadori, sick and tired of life in her boring mountain village, wants to move to the big city, but she must prove herself ready after having been raised by a talking bear.

A Hard Road
While those responsible for her decide that Machi should go to a local high school, she refuses to give up on going to school in the city; she manages to persuade Natsu, who gives her homework to prepare her.
EPISODE 3
The One Who Upholds Tradition
Machi starts losing her enthusiasm to work on her assignments to prepare herself to go to school in the city, so she suggests that they perform the kagura ritual for a change of pace.
EPISODE 4
Village Treasure
Yoshio asks Machi if she can survive without Natsu; offended by Yoshio's question, she starts listing the things she can do by herself; a punk harasses Machi, who cries to Natsu for help.
EPISODE 5
The Opposite
One of the kids in the village gets put in a cell with Natsu as punishment for being naughty; Natsu tells Machi the importance of sensing the mood in order to maintain a good relationship with others.

Village of Vanguards
As part of the Kumade Village revitalisation plan, Machi gets asked to go check out a bookstore said to be very popular among young people.
