Taro Yamada gives up on baseball and enrols in a high school with no baseball team; he encounters Haruka Kiyomine and Kei Kaname, the strongest battery, at his new school.

Kei still refuses to play baseball, but Haruka manages to lure him out to do batting practise with a certain offer; Aoi Todo and Shunpei Chihaya, who also gave up baseball like Taro did, can't hide their shock.

To get to know one another better, Kei invites Todo and Chihaya to his house. In Kei's room, they find a glove hidden by Haruka. While each of them faces what they can't let go of, the practice game with Teitoku High begins.

Against Teitoku's batters, Haruka pitches an immaculate inning, before Kotesashi's leadoff, Todo, hits a home run on the very first pitch he faces. As everyone holds their breath, the fated showdown between Haruka, Kei, and Kokuto begins.

Declaring that staying where they are won't do them any good, Kokuto asks Kiyomine to consider transferring to Teitoku so that they can go to Koshien together.

Kei decides to set his sights on beating Teitoku in a revenge match after learning more about baseball; Todo is reminded why he quit baseball in the first place.
