Rob Yang

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Rob Yang did not awaken to his love of acting until relatively late. He was already working professionally in New York's financial district when a chance meeting with an actor ignited his own inspiration to explore that same creative lifestyle himself. Yang decided to pursue the sense of excitement that the encounter gave him and enrolled in an improv comedy class, which quickly had him performing on stage on weekly basis. Additional training soon carved him out a respected niche in the city's theater scene, and eventually landed him his first TV role on an episode of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC, 2001-2011). Before long, Yang was landing roles in feature films like "The Adjustment Bureau" (2011) and "The Bourne Legacy" (2012), even as he continued his on-stage career, appearing in acclaimed plays like Classic Stage Company's 2012 off-Broadway production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", which found him acting alongside Bebe Neuwirth. In 2016, Yang branched out even further, writing, directing, and starring in the comedy "A Bear Lands on Earth" (2016). Yang's profile would also raise considerably when he took on the recurring role of Don Seong on "The Americans" (FX, 2013-18) as well as that of the president of Kyrgyzstan on the series "Madam Secretary" (CBS, 2014-).
