The Hardacres

In 1890s, the Hardacre family earn a meager living while working on the docks of Yorkshire; after an accident results more financial woes, the family matriarch comes up with a plan.

The family grapples with their new life in Hardacre Hall, but Mary is determined to impress their gentry neighbours.

Sam is hopeful that his latest venture on the docks will give Joe some much-needed purpose; tensions below stairs lead to a disaster in the kitchen, forcing Mary to think quickly and save the day with a uniquely Hardacre plan.

Mary and Ma attend their first charitable outing with the society ladies, but it brings them face to face with their challenging past; Joe's head turns at the sight of the beautiful Lady Adella.

The board threatens Sam with an ultimatum; Mary gets the cold shoulder from the ladies after the soiree; Joe's conscience is put to the test; Ma suspects something is wrong with Liza.
