The first season of the primetime soap begins with oil tycoon Blake Carrington marrying his former secretary, Krystle. Krystle's former lover, Matthew, returns to town and causes more problems when he tells Krystle that he's still in love with her.

Blake and Krystle reconcile; Matthew is reunited with his wife and daughter; Walter's rig is sabotaged; Blake accuses son Steven of being gay.
