During her psychiatric rotation, Abby tries to help a seizure-prone mother, Jordan (Julianne Nicholson), with a controversial drug treatment. Meanwhile, Neela impresses everyone with her lab research, especially when she helps one of the reckless students, Yuri (recurring guest star Archie Kao), after he experiments on himself. In addition, Kovac's relationship with Sam and her son, Alex (recurring guest star Oliver Davis), becomes awkward when the boy's father, Steve (recurring guest star Cole Hauser), returns.
