Melquiades (79), an intellectual self-isolated for too many years, idealizes traveling to Fyn, as a possibility of escape from his claustrophobic reality, but Arcadio (79) tries to persuade him by showing that it is impossible to get out of a position adopted for a long time, out of fear, for the past... Both represent the doubts and fears of the same person.
