Psychic John Washington treats traumatized individuals by helping them "visit" incidents in their past. When John becomes involved in the case of an attractive teenager, Anna Greene, he discovers that she is either an eccentric genius or a cold-blooded sociopath. Anna is confined to her suicide-proof room on the top floor of her parents' mansion and is watched 24/7 by nurses and video surveillance. Through his sessions, John tries to find plausible explanations for the violent incidents in her past. In his investigation of her life in the present, John can find nothing that points to her absolute guilt in any of the incidents she is accused of. The further John gets into Anna's case, the more he bonds with her and becomes convinced that she is the victim of some early trauma. But he also suffers from visions of Anna in his dreams and daily life. Eventually, John uncovers the events he believes have caused Anna to act out — but has he gone too far into her inescapable labyrinth?
