Longtime roadside bandit Will Plunkett and disgraced nobleman Captain James Macleane are two men from opposite ends of the class spectrum in 18th-century England. When the two struggle to survive, they decide to work together to rob aristocrats of their belongings, with Macleane's social connections to people of wealth complementing Plunkett's skill for thieving from them. But, during a robbery of Lord Gibson's stagecoach, Macleane falls instantly in love with the nobleman's cunning daughter, Rebecca. Now, thief must woo nobility, all while keeping a step ahead of General Chance -- another man after Rebecca's heart.
