Saving Pelican 895
Available on Prime Video, iTunes, Max
Just as the brown pelican had recovered from 45 years of endangerment, the April 2010 BP drilling-rig catastrophe ravaged their nesting homes in the Gulf of Mexico and left Louisiana's state bird in peril once again. Three months after the spill, clean-up workers had rescued 894 birds. This is the story of how conservationists and wildlife activists joined forces in hopes of saving one more of these regal birds. From his rescue as a 10-week-old with oil-slicked feathers, to his struggles in rehab and his return to his natural habitat, this film follows "LA 895" on his heartfelt journey of recovery.
