Tight-lipped Englishman Alex Hughes (Alan Rickman) is traveling through Ontario when he begrudgingly picks up a young and feisty hitchhiker named Vivienne (Emily Hampshire). When Vivienne dies suddenly, Alex finds himself grieving for someone he never knew.
