Getting laid off, losing your life savings, and dealing with a family member's medical bills are all bad enough on their own – but unfortunately for programmer Gao Zhi Lei (Xu Zheng), they all hit at once, putting him in a precarious situation as he hides the truth of his misfortune from his wife Xiao Ni (Xin Zhi Lei) and daughter. In a desperate attempt to support his family, Zhi Lei takes a temporary job as a food delivery worker. As a newcomer to the demands of the gig economy, Zhi Lei struggles with unreasonable customer demands and relentless competition from other app companies, but finds solace and companionship among his fellow workers. However, when a new opportunity comes his way, Zhi Lei must decide whether he'll stick with his new friends or climb the corporate ladder. This film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Qing Ming.
