Incident of the Inside Man
Gil Favor has to count on a cocky young man in a tight spot--but can't be sure whether he's a friend or enemy. Gil Favor is moving 3,000 head of cattle to Abilene, unaware that his new drover, Clay Forrester, is scheming with a crooked cowman, Craddock, to steal the herd. Clay is a cocky youngster who's not as good as he thinks -- he's twice as good. Because of a pretty girl he calls off the deal with Craddock and confesses the plot to Gil. But by this time Craddock has captured seven of Gil's drovers. To get into Craddock's camp, Gil pretends to be Clay's prisoner. Clay gets too convincing for Gil when he knocks him out and then talks over another deal with Craddock. But when Gil's remaining drovers show up, Clay joins in to subdue Craddock and his men. As Clay rides off, Gil still wonders which side the youngster is really on, and when.
