Karen Smythe (Khandi Alexander) is a police officer who responds to a routine call with her partner, Mitch Murray (Jason Kolotouros), but the two get separated and Karen disappears in a warehouse where she is brutally raped and almost murdered.

After a night of heavy drinking, Dalton Rindell (guest star Scott Foley) wakes up to a bloody apartment, a terrible cut on his head and a dead woman in his bed. Unable to recall the night before, Rindell immediately calls the police. Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) suspect the crime is the result of a deadly love triangle; however Rindell does not recognize the victim. After questioning Rindell and the victim’s family and friends, Benson and Stabler are provided with leads in several different directions. Unsure which lead to follow, the two detectives decide to return to the bar where the night began in order to piece together the gruesome truth. They work to link all of these murders together to pin down the serial killer, and appease the families of the victims who have been looking for answers. Meanwhile, Lindsay (Sophia Bush) decides to meet her biological father (guest star Tony Crane) for the first time, and Voight (Jason Beghe) welcomes Kenny Rixton (guest star Nick Wechsler) to the team when Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) takes an undercover assignment.

Detective Carisi's (Peter Scanavino) sister Bella (guest star Marin Ireland) prepares for her wedding to fiancé Tommy Sullivan (guest star Michael Chernus) and the upcoming birth of their child. But when Tommy falls back into bad habits and accuses his parole officer (guest star Molly Price) of rape, Carisi must investigate whether the claim is real or just another one of Tommy's excuses.
