The death of a show horse seems a more likely case for the ASPCA then Briscoe and Curtis, until a shady horse dealer is accused of selling sick horses to unsuspecting, older investors. Later, Kincaid and McCoy push for a conviction when the horse's owner disappears and is presumed dead.

A melee at Rikers Island is started and when the smoke clears, an inmate named Diaz (Otto Sanchez) is wounded and another, Alejo is dead. Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) question the Corrections Officers on duty, including Peter Bennett (Matt Mulhern) and his supervisor, Lewis Webster (Thomas G. Waites). It turns out Diaz is an undercover cop and had been trying to put the brakes on Alejo, as he was running major drug deals from prison...
