Debbie Lee Carrington
Debbie Lee Carrington was an American actress and stuntwoman who appeared in dozens of films and TV shows over the course of her 30-plus year career in Hollywood, most notably "Total Recall" (1990), "Seinfeld" (NBC, 1989-1998), and "She's All That" (1999). Carrington was born in San Jose, California. She grew up wanting to work in child psychology and went on to enter the University of California at Davis to study the field. The one day, on a whim, she answered a casting ad looking for little people to appear in a film based on the munchkins from "The Wizard of Oz" (1939). Carrington, who was small in stature as a result of dwarfism, decided to audition for the role and was ultimately cast. Her role in the film, 1981's "Under the Rainbow," would be the start of an unlikely acting career which spanned dozens of films and TV roles over the next four decades. After her part in "Under the Rainbow," Carrington played an Ewok in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" (1983), Thumbelina in the Schwarzenegger sci-fi action thriller "Total Recall," as well as a supporting role as a stand-in actor on a memorable episode of "Seinfeld." Carrington continued working steadily through the 2010s, with notable roles in the animated film "The Polar Express" (2004), "The Drew Carey Show" (ABC, 1995-2004), and a part in the Adam Sandler family film "Bedtime Stories" (2008). Carrington made her final acting appearance in 2017 in the Christopher Titus-directed comedy "Special Unit." After a long and wide-ranging career spanning 36 years, Carrington died at her parents' home in Pleasanton, California on March 23, 2018. She was 58.
