Prolific German film producer Horst Wendlandt produced over 100 films, beginning his career after World War II as a production manager and production assistant before eventually finding a mentor in established producer Arthur Brauner, for whom he worked from 1956 to 1961 on titles such as "Love" and "Petersburg Nights." Wendlandt also worked occasionally as a writer, penning nine screenplays overall include those for "Gentlemen in White Vests" to "Hurray We Are Bachelors Again." In 1972, Wendlandt broached yet another phase of his varied career when he became a major shareholder in the film company Rialto Film. To top things off, the busy multi-hyphenate also squeezed in two cameo appearances early on in his professional career. In terms of his North American profile, many filmgoers know Wendlandt for the 1982 Rainer Werner Fassbinder drama "Veronika Voss," which won a prestigious Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival as well as the International Critics' Award at that year's Toronto International Film Festival.
