An American actor of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, Jenna Ortega's career started when she was ten years old. Her breakthrough role in television came with the series "Stuck in the Middle" (Disney Channel, 2016-2018), for which she won an Imagen Award for Best Young Actor after three nominations. In 2019, she started working with Netflix, a partnership that would result in some of her most remembered roles in years to come. Ortega received critical praise for her role as Vada in the movie "The Fallout" (2021), which several critics dubbed as her breakout film role. She went on to discover her niche in the horror genre, appearing in the Foo-Fighters-led movie "Studio 666" (2022), the slashers "Scream" (2022) and "X" (2022), for which she received critical acclaim. In the same year, she starred in "Wednesday Addams" (Netflix, 2022), winning nominations at the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for playing the titular role. Her portrayal of the classic character was widely praised, and she was called the "Next Big Thing", by the Hollywood Reporter. Despite expressing some regret for missing the traditional high school experience and teenage milestones, Jenna Ortega's career continued to soar and she has since used her platforms to promote support for immigrants and the LGBT community.
