Detective Tutuola (Ice-T) comes across leaked security footage of a violent domestic dispute in a parking garage, showing sportscaster A.J. Martin (guest star Chad Coleman) hit his girlfriend Paula (guest star Meagan Good). While Fin and Benson (Hargitay) investigate the couple's lifestyle and history, Paula pushes back to keep her relationship and family intact. Benson turns to ADA Barba (Raúl Esparza) for help to convince Paula that her world doesn't have to revolve around A.J. Meanwhile, the case has an interesting effect on Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Amaro’s (Danny Pino) relationship.

STAR picks up three months later, as Star returns home from touring, and Alex and Simone’s fates are finally answered. Carlotta and Cassie’s sibling rivalry continues, as the two grapple with the aftermath of Cassie’s big mistake, and Christine is caught in the middle. When Carlotta’s back is against the wall, Midtown Sound’s strength and future is tested by Mateo Ferrera, and Star’s big announcement leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

When Mateo pulls a shocking stunt to reveal Star’s pregnancy, the social media trolls go wild. Meanwhile, Simone faces a choice between her marriage and career, Carlotta and Cassie continue to battle it out and Maurice and Cassie team up for an unlikely ploy. Then, Derek returns home to find Miss Ruby in trouble.

Maurice brings in an old friend and regional promoter, Natalie (guest star Meagan Good), to help put the artists of Midtown Sound on the map. Competition and jealousy rise among the artists on their first gig as a collective, while Andy (guest star Elijah Kelley) struggles with his dreams versus his parents’ expectations. Alex and Noah finally get Star’s approval, but the relationship is tested by a run-in with groupies. Meanwhile, Cassie (guest star Brandy Norwood) offers Miss Bruce a job and Cotton makes a life-changing discovery about her past.
