Nafessa Williams was born in Philadelphia, PA. Upon graduation from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Williams leapt swiftly into a career in acting, accepting a substantial role on the soap opera series "One Life to Live" (ABC 1968-2013). That same year, Williams joined the medical drama series "Code Black" (CBS 2015-) in a recurring role as an ill-fated first year resident at the central hospital. She went on to star in the Sundance Film Festival premiere "Burning Sands" (2017), a film about violence in college Greek life, before being cast in the reboot of "Twin Peaks" (ABC/Showtime 1990-91, 2017-).
