Three gangsters gun down a fourth crook who ran out with the proceeds of a bank robbery. Knowing the gunplay failed to turn up the loot, Highway Patrol Chief Mathews sets up a stakeout at the dead man's house. The gangsters close in, intent on wresting the money from their victim's wife. Mathews marshalls his forces to prevent a second murder an discover the elusive bank deposits.
