Poirot (David Suchet) takes on his toughest challenge yet as he races to prove a convicted killer is innocent. Mrs McGinty was killed by a brutal blow to the head, and her lodger James Bentley (Joe Absolom – Vincent) is sentenced to hang for the murder. Superintendent Spence (Richard Hope – The Shellseekers) is convinced the evidence was just too obvious and asks his old friend Hercule Poirot to investigate. As Poirot joins forces with famed crime novelist Ariadne Oliver (Zoë Wanamaker – My Family) to save Bentley from the gallows, he doesn’t realise his own life is in danger. The cast also includes Amanda Root (The Forsyte Saga), Paul Rhys (Vincent & Theo), Simon Shepherd (Warriors) and Siân Phillips (Ivanhoe).
