Having a railroad built to pass directly through Walnut Grove sounds like a wonderful idea for many town residents, particularly since it would increase the size and popularity of the area. Others are concerned that it would destroy their quiet, simplistic lifestyle, and when they decide to fight it, lives are threatened.

Hired to track down a stolen shipment of highly sensitive electronic components, Michael learns that the truckers have been plagued by similar robberies in recent months. The members of the Alliance of Independent Truckers get more bad news when their supplier refuses to deal with them because of their failure to meet deadlines. Their last ray of hope is a Denver businessman (who is actually Devon), who promises them a long-term, lucrative contract providing they can deliver their goods to Denver on time. They agree to a test run, but when their supplier hears of their plans, he intends to stop the shipment by any means necessary. The outlaws are set for attack, but don't count on having to deal with the wondrous powers of K.I.T.T., and surrender after their truck is demolished.

Jill becomes the hated star of a roller derby team when she goes undercover to investigate the mysterious death of a beautiful skater as "Death on Wheels" airs (day/date/time) on Channel 's "Charlie's Angels." Skating champ Karen Jason is killed after being forced over the guardrail and into the audience during a rough and tumble race. Charlie's client believes Karen was murdered, despite the police report stating that the death was accidental. In search of clues, Sabrina poses as a state insurance investigator, Kelly as a pushy writer for a national magazine and Jill as a member of the roller derby team.

While Corabeth is out of town, her sister comes to visit Ike. Elizabeth, feeling left out of the lives of her family, decides to run away from home.
