A&E After Dark

Andrew arrives in the hospital in the back of a police van after punching his arm through a pub window. 66-year-old Peter arrives having lost 20 per cent of his blood mass from a rectal bleed. A drunk and flirtatious patient who has cut their head after a night out on the town is determined to leave the hospital.

A homeless mans hand is treated after a gang of youths stamped on his hand. Dr. Jeremy Osman assembles a full trauma team to save the life of 18-year-old Jack, who has severe injuries after falling off his scooter. 21-year-old, Kevin, fell over causing excruciating pain to his ankle and requires a cast.

Ricky, 39, arrives at the hospital with severe head injuries after falling through a glass window. His bleeding is so severe that constant pressure is needed. Despite his injuries, Ricky refuses pain relief injections due to his fear of needles and attempts to discharge himself.

A patient is rushed to the hospital by ambulance suffering a cardiac arrest. Dr. Zac Duthie and his team perform CPR in a desperate attempt to revive the pulse. With each passing moment, the decision to stop becomes more imminent if no pulse is found.

Sarah was celebrating her 54th birthday and fell onto her wrist. She is rushed to hospital with suspected broken bones. The pain is clearly unbearable as Sarah is screaming in agony. Dr. Rennie administers morphine to help Sarah, but the medical team are concerned when her screams turn to silence.

Most patients waiting to be seen by doctors on the night shift await patiently and quietly. But there are some patients that are incredibly hard to look after. A young man has to be restrained by police officers in the ambulance bay after shouting and swearing at medical staff.
