Arabia With Levison Wood

Levison Wood begins his journey on the border of Syria and Iraq in the heartland of the Kurdish autonomous region. He hopes to travel through Mosul, then head south to Baghdad, before finishing this leg of his journey in the beauty of the Iraqi marshes.

Levison Wood reaches the Musandam Peninsula -- gateway to Oman, the jewel of Arabia. He travels around the southern edge of Arabia, crossing parts of the largest desert in the world and crossing the Dhofar Mountains before entering the war zone of Yemen.

Three months into his journey around Arabia, Levison Wood has left war-torn Yemen by the only means available -- wooden sailboat. As he sails toward Somalia on his hitched ride, he hopes to make a transit back onto the peninsula.

Levison Wood is in Jordan, and has travelled to one of the most famous archaeological spots in the world -- Petra. From there, he'll head through one of the most fascinating and troubled regions in the world.

Levison Wood is in southern Syria, the penultimate country on his journey, during the seventh year of the war that has torn it apart. He wants to find out how its people have survived both the onslaught of ISIS and the president Bashar al-Assad.
