A newly qualified Michael applies for a top job at All Saint's Hospital but finds the interviewing panel more interested in his rugby skills.

Paul Collier is in practice with elderly Dr. Neilson and asks Michael to cover his night surgery so he can go on a date.

Upton and Collier have taken up jobs in a practice run by the eccentric Dr. Maxwell and his young daughter, Sue. The problems start for Upton when people begin to question his age and the patients want to be seen by a "proper doctor."

Sue is not happy when her father gets Michael to give a sex education talk at a local girls' school, resulting in him being a sex fantasy object, attracting the girls' attentions.

Dick Stuart-Clark arrives and convinces Michael that the surgery is old-fashioned and needs modernizing. He provides an E.C.G. machine that explodes when used on Mrs. Baxter.

Paul has an idea for a pregnancy advisory service, using toads in his demonstration. Unfortunately, the samples he brings to the surgery are frogs and not toads...and soon they are everywhere.
