Doctors Lucía and Mariana compete for the position of head of the emergency department at the Central Hospital. When the former suffers a serious accident that disqualifies her, the latter gets the job. When Lucía wakes up from her coma, she discovers that she has received an extraordinary gift that allows her to save the lives of patients, even though each case implies a mortal risk for her. On the other hand, Mariana, Carlos Reséndiz's lover and the hospital director, uses the secret he hides to obtain money and power. Taking advantage of her influence, she manages to transfer her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Enrique Jimenez, with the intention of winning him back, but her plan fails because he is immediately attracted to Lucía.
