A pro racer, a hometown hero, a husband-and-wife team, a pair of sisters, and a total novice – meet five diverse teams preparing for the Baja 1000. They all have different motivations but only one goal: to try to win off-road racing's crown jewel.

With time running out, each of the teams face unique challenges while getting ready for race day. Whether it's diagnosing a mechanical problem, getting used to a new partner, or even completing the racecar, everyone is under the gun.

With the start of the Baja 1000 just 16 days away, the teams go through their numerous final preparations. Race qualification, equipment readiness, sponsorship deals, must all be taken care of, not to mention time for mental preparation.

With the start of the Baja 1000 just five days away, the teams are all in Ensenada, Mexico for the moment they've all been working toward. In the hours before the race starts something always goes wrong. Which teams can power through and overcome?

The months, even years, of preparation have led up to this moment. Now, all that stands between the five teams and their goal is 1,350km (840 miles) of punishing desert driving, where anything can happen.
