Wu Zhen (Tian Xi Wei), the daughter of the duke of Henan and sister to the queen, is notorious for her bold, uninhibited behavior, from wearing men's clothing to leading wild adventures. However, her carefree lifestyle hides a secret: Wu Zhen is able to see spirits, and after the former governor of Chang'an's hidden Demon City passed his powers onto her, she's taken over maintaining order among the supernatural beings that reside there. When she meets Taoist arts prodigy Mei Zhu Yu (Xu Kai), she's shocked to learn that he's also able to see spirits, although he also keeps it a secret from others. While Wu Zhen and Zhu Yu are originally on opposing sides, they gradually begin to form a partnership that might just turn into something more.
