Novoland: Pearl Eclipse

Under Emperor Di Xu’s (Xu Kai Cheng) oppressive pearl tax, villagers resort to pretending to kill their children to coax Naga mermaids into crying, producing luminous pearls. Ye Hai Shi (Yang Mi) narrowly escapes such a tragedy but loses her father and witnesses her village’s massacre. She is rescued by Fang Zhu (William Chan), the Emperor's confidant, who disguises her as a man and takes her as his disciple in the Imperial City. As the years pass, Hai Shi struggles with growing feelings for Fang Zhu, who cannot reciprocate due to his duty to Da Zheng and the Emperor. Torn between personal emotions and her people's suffering, Hai Shi must ultimately choose her path as she navigates her dual identity.
