After a construction-site collapse kills a group of teenagers, mother Polly Bevan directs her anger at Harriet Paulsen, the project's leader. But as the dust settles, Polly's shocked to realize that her own daughter, the sole survivor, may be blamed.
In the tragedy's aftermath, grief sets in, and the investigation begins. Appalled that the kids are being scapegoated, Polly's best friend, Angela, unites the families to fight for justice. But it all falls apart when incriminating emails are leaked.
Polly is forced to choose between her marriage and justice as Angela asks her to betray her husband, Iwan, to get the evidence they need. Meanwhile, the families discover that faulty steel was used on the site.
After a year, the families' private prosecution finally arrives in court, but their case falls apart when the star witness has a last-minute change of heart. Desperate to do right by her daughter, Polly must convince Iwan to come clean.
