In a world where those with strong spiritual power can train special animals, Fan Ling Xiao stands out as a particularly gifted master. Accompanied by his spiritual whale, Kun, he built and leads the Ling Xiao Pavilion of masters-in-training. However, during a competition, Kun appears to go berserk and devours Ling Xiao. When Ling Xiao comes to, a year has passed – and he's now in the body of a young man named Liu Feng Man, imprisoned by the rival Bai sect. He escapes with a catfish he names Nian, only to find that the Ling Xiao Pavilion has lost its credibility in his absence and that fish spirit animals have been intentionally driven to near-extinction. Ling Xiao decides to go undercover with his new identity, finds his old friends, and embarks on a quest to find the truth. This animation was based on the manhua of the same name by Mo.
