As the family struggles with food shortages and troubling news about Robert, the children discover a British pilot in the woods.

The children grow defiant as the Germans crack down on the Resistance and force Jewish villagers to wear stars.

The villagers eagerly await the Allied landings hoping they will lead to freedom, but more challenges lie ahead.
