Carlos de la Mota

A modern day polymath, Carlos De La Mota counted himself as not only a talented actor and singer, but also an architect. Born in La Vega in the north of the Dominican Republic, De La Mota spent his early years living in New York City, later moving back to the city of Santo Domingo. Graduating at 23 with an architecture degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra, he immediately set to working for a Domican government institution. But the entertainment industry called to him, so De La Mota moved to Mexico where he could pursue an acting career while still working in architecture. His acting career began in 2003 in the telenovela "Destilando Amor" (2003), as Britishman James O'Brian. He went on to receive critical acclaim for this role, propelling his career forward. Since then he has gone on to various roles in more than 10 Televisa telenovelas becoming the first actor of Dominican descent to do so. In 2006, the actor made his film debut in the romantic comedy "Cansada de besar sapos." De La Mota memorialized his footprints on the "Plaza de las Estrellas" in Mexico City in 2010. He also won the 2013 TVyNovelas Award for Best Male Revelation for the role of Karim in the telenovela "Corazón indomable" (2013), just one of many awards the actor has received or been nominated for.
