Vera loses her job and her husband at the same time and the only work she can find is in a small community she's never heard of, yet she gathers her belongings and the kids and drives off to start fresh in Ängelby.

Vera starts her new life in Ängelby, but what kind of strange place is this town? The boy she ran over is later found buried in a field, it turns out he was dead three hours before she hit him with the car. Who killed him and why?

The dead boy's mother goes to see the police, does she know anything she hasn't confessed yet? Vera receives an anonymous package with a book chronicling the history of Ängelby.

Torsten is still missing and won't answer his phone, so Vera goes to look for him at his cabin in the woods. Reports from the lab show that the dead boy Jesper had torn knuckles covered in small wooden chips.

Amos and Viveka make an important discovery in Torsten's cabin. Did Vera really end up in Ängelby by coincidence? Therese and Calle continue their own search for Jesper's murderer. What kinds of feelings are brewing between Amos and Vera?
