Jonathan and Clair decide to split up and try to hide it from their son Spencer. They run away to stay with his sister Danielle and Courtney.

Jonathan gets distracted by overparenting and risks losing his job when Spencer gets invited into a laser quest party.

Jonathan lies to Claire about finding a new place to live for him and Spencer, and has only four days in hand to find a place.

Claire invites a work colleague into her home which worries Jonathan that Spencer will end up with a new father.

Spencer wishes to spend his birthday with the family at a zombie-themed hotel. Jonathan and Claire are still awkward since the kiss.
