At Sunday dinner at his Grandmother's, young television presenter Simon tells his family that he plans to quit his hosting job at a successful quiz show in order to soften his image.

Simon buys a used, bright yellow Smart car for Tanya, which she refuses to accept because it's too expensive; the family force an unwilling Simon to read the play he has written aloud.

Simon reads a book that leads him to believe he can control the universe; Liz tries to get Adam into a church school by pretending to be Catholic; Grandpa invites Deborah Arden, a former actress he had a fling with, to tea.

Simon is asked to be part of a documentary project, but claims he would rather be a recluse for a year than fly over Africa in a balloon with Wyclef Jean.

Simon has been on a life changing course and has decided it's his job to heal the family; Tanya realises that maybe Clive isn't the man for her.

When Grandpa becomes ill, uncertainty comes into play over whether Tanya and Clive will be able to get married.
