The Nichols family are preparing for the funeral of Laurie, a much loved father, brother, husband, and the celebrated landlord of the John Barleycorn Pub. An unexpected mourner arrives at the graveside of Stephen's father's funeral.

Stephen discovers that Andrew will receive a five per cent share of the family business: the John Barleycorn pub. With the business in debt, Andrew and Stephen take on the battle to get some extra cash.

Andrew makes improvements to the pub against Stephen's wishes, and receives praising TripAdvisor reviews. Stephen leaves his own reviews in response, and Andrew suspects their staff.

Stephen and Andrew embark on a road trip to visit their pub's suppliers, where Andrew attempts to help Stephen move on from his ex-wife, and Geoff is left to tend to the pub.

The family begin repairs on the pub after the horrific fire. Cass sells her share of the pub to Andrew. Stephen makes a shocking discovery in the woods.

Andrew completes the transformation of the pub and holds a party for what would have been Laurie's 69th birthday. Stephen uncovers important information about Andrew.
