Mary Berry, Dan Doherty and Chris Bavin begin the search for the best home cook in Britain. First, the cooks have to create a burger that showcases their personality.

The top nine home cooks try to create their best dishes with fish, and squash or rice; the weakest contenders face a dessert elimination challenge.

Eight cooks create their best pies, before making dishes that utilise plums or cheese. A head-to-head eliminator will see one contestant leave the competition.

The last seven cooks must create the ultimate roast along with a dish including potatoes and two other sides, before moving on to a crab or cauliflower dish.

The last six cooks have two-and-a-half hours to prepare a chocolate dessert to wow the judges. The best ones must choose between tofu or eggplant for the cooks' challenge.

The quarterfinalists must prepare a sharing feast with four complementary dishes in two and half hours. They must choose between mackerel and squid in the cooks' challenge.
