Pretty Proofreader

Etsuko has been applying for editor positions every year, and after seven attempts, she finally receives a job offer. However, her joy is short-lived, as she is transferred to the proofreading department instead of the editorial department.

When Etsuko introduces herself as a proofreader at a publishing company at a meeting, she's ignored by men, and her work struggles because it doesn't suit her. She falls in love at first sight with a college student named Yukito.

Yoneoka is greatly disheartened by being asked to step down as proofreader for his favourite novelist Shijo; Etsuko is praised by Shijo for something she is completely unfamiliar with.

While proofreading a manuscript by author Natsuki, Etsuko receives a protesting phone call, but she remains undaunted and voices her opinion; Etsuko receives a date request from Yukito, and the two of them have a meal together.

A woman who dreams of becoming a fashion magazine editor lands an offer from a large publishing house, but she's assigned to the least glamorous department in the company as a proofreader.

Etsuko, accompanied by desk clerk Cecil, visits Toyoko's home and, to her surprise, discovers that she and Yukito are living together. However, Etsuko is confused when she learns that they are merely renting a room.
