Rising Damp

Classic comedy which reflects the broadcast standards, language and attitudes of its time. Stingy, pretentious landlord Rigsby is looking for another lodger. One of his current lodgers, Miss Jones, is keen for her acquaintance, Philip, to move in.

Rigsby has been busy trying to attract Miss Jones' attentions. Meanwhile, Miss Jones has been busy trying to attract Philip's attentions. During a chat with the boys, Rigsby is told that Philip has ten wives, and that he is seen as a God in his own country. Rigsby is somewhat sceptical and demands proof of Philip's powers. Philip claims he can make something appear, and so performs a small ritual.

Rigsby gets all dressed up to take Miss Jones out for her birthday dinner.

Rigsby is given some advice from Alan and Philip, as well as some tablets to calm his nerves in his amorous pursuit of Miss Jones.

A tough new tenant plays his stereo very loud and Rigsby is afraid to ask him to keep it down.

Rigsby rushes to protect Ruth after she sees a prowler in her room, but soon it's the chivalrous Rigsby who needs protecting.
