Boss Barnett, a ruthless criminal, has big plans, but the Tribune newspaper continues to stand in his way. To gain control of the newspaper he must have the Tribune stock owned by Stanley Stanfield, but Stanfield hates Barnett.

Stanfield races ahead of the train, eludes his pursuer, and hides in Van Dorn's mountain laboratory. Meanwhile, Barnett's estranged daughter tells Stanfield that Cadwell is alive and asks him to call her that evening.

Stanfield drags Gloria out of the path of the Destroying Ray before trying to wrestle the machine from Van Dorn.

A son avenges the death of his father at the hands of corrupt politicians.

With Van Dorn's electric torch, Gloria burns open the vault door to rescue Stanfield. Needing time to work out his scheme to get control of the Tribune, Barnett imprisons McDonald on a rocky and inaccessible island.

Having failed in their attempt to fly to McDonald's rescue, Stanfield and Gloria return to Van Dorn's laboratory; to their surprise, McDonald calls from his office and they hurry to see him.
