On the first night of the cruise ship Orizzonte's voyage, the crew rescue 28 refugees from a fishing boat fire.

Arrigo battles with a difficult moral choice after being ordered to disembark the refugees. A meeting is organised between the refugees and passengers.

The Orizzonte docks in Tunis, but local authorities refuse to accept the refugees, who instead get the chance to freely move around the ship while the passengers explore the Tunisian capital.

Edith starts to spread the news that the migrants on board the Orizzonte will be handed over to the Libyans; Ibrahim discovers all about Tareq's past life; the crew try to find an NGO.

A determined Tareq takes the cruise ship hostage and makes demands for it to be returned to Italy; Captain Arrigo has a panic attack; Edith formally takes over command.

Military forces surround the cruise ship and try to negotiate a compromise with the hijackers; Dilleta discovers that she is pregnant.
