Torri Higginson

Actress Torri Higginson began her career in the early 1990s with several television movies and guest appearances before landing the role of Beth Kittridge in the television movie "TekWar," based on the science-fiction novels written by Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner. Higginson reprised the part in a pair of other "TekWar" TV movies and a series. In 1996, Higginson moved to the big screen to play Mary in the Academy Award-winning film "The English Patient," starring Ralph Fiennes, Kristen Scott Thomas, Juliette Binoche, and Willem Dafoe. She returned to television in the late '90s with the series "Deep in the City," where she played Katharine Strachan. Higginson made guest appearances on shows like "Twice in a Lifetime" and also appeared in several shorts like "Crust" and "Autopsy Room Four," but her biggest success has been as Dr. Elizabeth Weir on the sci-fi show "Stargate Atlantis," which ran from 2004 to 2008.
