In New York, several municipal, corporate and citizen initiatives are trying to make a difference to recover, recycle and clean the city before it collapses under its waste.

With its waste sorting system, its vegetated rafts to clean canal water and even its hair recycling, Brussels would be among the good students of the European continent when it comes to waste management.

The British capital has nine million inhabitants, is visited by twenty million tourists and produces seven million tons of waste per year, of which only 40% is recycled. The rest is buried.
