High schooler Yamato is best friends with his not-so-clever classmate Kakeru; Kakeru asks Yamato a tricky question.

The mood between Yamato and Kakeru becomes awkward following the group date; Kakeru angrily defends Yamato when their classmates bad-mouth him.

While accompanying his mother on a shopping trip, Kakeru runs into Akane; Yamato sees them together and, feeling a pang of jealousy, confronts Kakeru.

Kakeru feels puzzled by Yamato's nonchalant attitude following their embrace; while on a school trip to Kyoto, Japan, Kakeru and Yamato observe the night sky together.

At Fujino's insistence, Kakeru ends up walking around Kyoto, Japan, with Akane, but he is distracted by thoughts of his original promise to Yamato.

When Yamato seems to have no memory of kissing and confessing to Kakeru on the school trip, a shocked Kakeru says that their friendship is over.
