The Larkins

There is excitement at the approaching May Day Fair and new blood in the village; but Mariette has bombshell news and the tax man comes calling, so the Larkins' future is looking far from rosy.

With their wit, charm and a little bit of cunning, the Larkins woo Charley the tax man; Mariette agrees to put her plans on hold and stay for the summer, but with the arrival of Charley and Tom Fisher, her heart is pulled in many directions.

Ma is worried that Pop is working too hard and books a weekend in Margate, leaving Charley and Mariette to mind the kids; Margate, however, threatens to be a let-down; but with Ma's and Pop's glasses always half full, adventures await them.

News reaches Pop that the train station is to close, so with the help of the reluctant Miss Chand and the villagers, Pop seizes the opportunity to save the railway and make money too; Mariette fights with Pauline, and Charley makes a big decision.

The Larkins have visitors they would rather avoid; there is tension between Mariette and Charley, Alec Norman is up to his old dirty tricks and the truth about Tom Fisher's plans emerge.

The Larkins go to extreme lengths to convince Mariette not to leave for France; the glamorous Angela Snow arrives and sets tongues wagging, adding extra fuel to gossip started by the Normans; Pop and Ma have champagne-worthy news.
