When a clandestine meeting ends in murder, DS Nancy Devlin finds her life and career at risk and must avert suspicion by staying one step ahead of her colleagues and the killer.

Mistrustful of her colleagues and with suspicions growing at work, Nancy finds it harder to keep her secret. Elsewhere, a shocking second murder suggests that the killer is one step ahead.

The discovery of key forensic evidence shocks Nancy to the core and forces her to question everything she knows. Elsewhere, a game of cat and mouse within the police team ends badly.

In an attempt to stay on top of the game, Nancy takes a chance on a  double bluff with one of Frank’s associates with explosive results.

Nancy must hide her guilt from her friends and colleagues, a task made harder when she realises she’s left evidence at the haulage yard. Elsewhere, Nancy’s mother has gone missing from the psychiatric ward.

Nancy sees the truth but struggles to persuade her boss, DCI Michelle Newman. With nothing left to lose, she must operate outside of the law if she is to stop the killer once and for all.
