Ein Schritt zum Abgrund

As a devoted doctor, wife, and mother, Jana Hansen appears to have a perfect life. She and her husband Christian share the upbringing of their ten-year-old daughter Lotta in harmony. But when Jana discovers a long blonde hair on Christian’s scarf one morning, a quiet doubt begins to grow into a painful realization that her marriage may not be what it seems.

The shock is overwhelming when Jana confirms that Christian is having an affair. What devastates her most is his ability to lie so convincingly, insisting she is imagining things. Confused and humiliated, Jana turns to her colleague and friend Pari Farhadi for comfort, only to begin uncovering the true scope of Christian’s betrayal and deceit.

Jana soon learns that Christian’s infidelity runs deeper than she feared and that almost everyone around her knew. His father Jeppe and even her trusted colleague Pari seem to have protected him. Feeling completely isolated, Jana decides to confront her husband’s hidden secrets by exposing his finances and reclaiming her sense of power.

Jana struggles to maintain composure both at work and at home. She hides the growing tension from her daughter Lotta and pretends that life with Christian is still normal.
